In the spring of 2015, by the prompting of the Holy Spirit and the encouragement of family and friends, Pastor Jesse Morales of Tabernacle of Faith and Pastor Sam Spatafore of Tree of Life began meeting to discuss God’s work in their lives and ministries. As they prayed and sought the Lord together, it became clear that He was weaving their hearts and churches into one. They saw in each other not only a shared passion for the gospel but also a common testimony of God's grace and faithfulness.

 

On September 6, 2015, Tabernacle of Faith and Tree of Life gathered as one body for the first time at the Tree of Life facility. From that moment, the churches worshiped, studied Scripture, and served together- uniting in prayer, discipleship, and outreach. It soon became evident that God was leading them toward something greater than partnership- He was making them one.

 

After much prayer and seeking God’s will, both congregations joyfully affirmed a merger. On September 4, 2016, they officially voted to become Thames River Church, a unified body committed to glorifying Christ and serving the community. The church’s inaugural service took place on January 1, 2017, marking the beginning of a new chapter in God’s sovereign plan.

 

On May 12, 2024, Thames River Church welcomed Pastor Luis Rivera as our new shepherd, following Pastor Jesse’s obedience to God’s calling on him and his family to serve in Florida. As we continue forward, we remain steadfast in our mission- to proclaim Christ, love one another, and make disciples for the glory of God.

Thames River Church is a Christ-centered, gospel-driven family where faith is nurtured and lives are transformed by the grace of God. We hold to the absolute authority of Scripture, believing the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, and sufficient Word of God. We proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord, the one true God, our only hope in life and death. Our mission is to grow in grace, worship in spirit and truth, and live out the gospel in our homes, church, and community.
